Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE COST OF A SESSION?

The current session fee is $260 for a standard 50 minute therapy consultation. This is below the current recommended fee of $311 from the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Payment is due on the day of your appointment, and can be made via Stripe (secure online payment system) or by direct bank transfer.

IS THERE A CANCELLATION FEE?

Sometimes life gets in the way of attending appointments. However, at least 48 hours notice is required. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice are charged 50% of the session fee, and within 24 hours are charged 100%. Please note Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for cancelled or missed appointments.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

No, you do not require a referral to engage in therapy sessions unless you would like to claim Medicare rebates.

HOW CAN I RECEIVE REBATES?

You may be eligible for rebates from Medicare if you obtain a valid referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP prior to your appointment. The current rebate for seeing a clinical psychologist is $141.85 per session. You may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year.

Alternatively, you may be able to access rebates through private health insurance. You can check with your fund to see if this is the case. Please note, you cannot claim both Medicare and private health rebates for the same appointment.

I offer both in-person and telehealth (video and phone) appointments.
